PRESIDENT JOSEPH BIDEN

And so we Americans have a new president of Irish Catholic heritage, a Democrat and liberal, but not far left. His inaugural speech and the celebration concert were the uplift we needed. And I was in awe of the fireworks display.

I hope we will learn to agree to disagree again. Violent protests, looting, and so on isn't furthering any cause.

ASK YOURSELF THIS

ARE YOU WILLING TO HOLOCAUST THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE HOMELESS?  DO YOU CONSIDER THEM TO BE SUBHUMAN and NOT WORTHY OF BASIC RESPECT or TO BE WITHOUT NEED?  Is it OK with you if they freeze to death?  Starve to death? Die in the street? Give birth in the street? Go hungry? Go without education?  Keep moving?  Do you care if people who not long ago had it all together are now at risk of going crazy? HAVE YOU DUMPED FRIENDS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF LUCK?

If so, please do NOT celebrate Christmas.

***********************************************

I don't know about your town, but I know that mine has a homeless encampment that keeps getting bigger down by the post office, which happens to have outdoor lighting on all night. There is also a motel that has been temporarily funded as a temporary homeless shelter.  I encounter homeless people everywhere I go, especially in libraries, and I believe the numbers are triple of that counted. I believe this because I believe that a good number of homeless are secretly so.  They have avoided being counted and do not want to go to shelters or other facilities either because they don't want governmental benefits or intrusion into their lives, or because there are horror stories about what it is to be in these places.  In talking to people I meet, I've learned about long wait lists as well and the feeling of despair.  Partners do not want to be separated.  Parents don't want their children put in foster care.  They would rather go on loving each other in a tent.

I thought about this the other day because basically I was reading through my old posts that are genealogy oriented,  I noted that the National Archive of Hungary and the databases that show who owned the land and how many people lived on it - as tenant farmers - as serfs - back in the Queen Marie Theresa's day. As well, the 1828 census counted how many slaves one had. I was thinking about how the land barons who had serfs on their estate owed them some very basics. They were better off than the homeless in the sense that if you were a serf on a baron's estate, you were not expected to be transient.

You knew where you belonged and you knew what hut was yours for the night.  You probably had a sense of community and some pride in being able to work hard to contribute towards your upkeep.  You may have had rags on your feet, but you had family too. I'm not idealizing serfdom. I'm saying the freeing of the serfs was a great big deal and often they ran for another country and a better life, but how can we free the homeless who are living much like them?

I truly fear what is coming if there is no more governmental help coming, in particular if evictions are allowed to continue.  Even those who have been living on unemployment benefits are at risk at becoming homeless.  So very many here in Southern California live without savings.  And have nowhere else to go.  California has been a destination for people who became homeless in other places, in particular cold places.  You probably won't freeze to death here, but there are still places where you can be overexposed to cold.

I learned that the motel full of homeless people does not house our town's local homeless.  Social workers from all over the city have sent people who are very ill or incapacitated there.  It is full of people with stage four cancer, people who cannot walk without a chair and assistance, people who are recovering from heart surgery who lost their apartments in the process of their illness and recovery.  Some of them are awaiting placement in assisted living or apartments with governmental vouchers.

It was bad before Covid-19 and now it's just horrible.  Though my neighborhood is decorated with Christmas lights, the food bank has been setting up down by the school.  We are all grateful for what all we have but also worried. We have decided on token gifts and donations to charities.

If you are reading this from another place in America or the world, please consider that empathy and understanding of other people's plight is a first step.  Stop protesting the existence of tent cities or the existence of homeless people in your neighborhood. Learn the truth about why they are out there.  I suspect you will find that evil and greed is at the heart of it.

AND TO ALL OF YOU, A GOOD NIGHT!

QUESTION FOR READERS: ARE YOU CONSIDERING MOVING TO HUNGARY?

Considering the turmoil of the Presidency and Presidential Elections here in the United States of America, as well as the desire of some Americans to live in Christian society, as well as the inability some face to retire in the United States financially, I've been wondering if my readers are considering MOVING TO HUNGARY.

As I understand it, in order to gain Hungarian citizenship, speaking the language is a requirement and it's not easy to learn.  However, it might be more easily learned living in Hungary.

FIRST LADY MELANIA TRUMP IS THE MORE APPROACHABLE ONE

When the Trumps first became President of the United States and First Lady, I believe it was our President who said that the Kennedy White House - JFK and Jackie - would be role models.  I found that interesting and as Jackie prioritized her children and so has Melania I get it.  I feel for Melania at this point for so very many reasons but she has finally made children her focus as a special effort during her First Ladyhood.  And if I had to meet this couple socially or for any reason, I would find Melania the more approachable one because I think she is actually the more genuine one.

But does the JFK Whit eHouse inspiration include a promiscuous cheating President?

I feel for her because she is married to a President whose tenure in office seems questionable mostly because so very many heads have rolled.  I would not want to chance working for such a person or in such a situation and I fear accepting work from him is basically asking for career ruination.  I feel the instability of staff not only makes getting work done difficult but gives other countries the impression we are a weak country.

Yet Trump fans have told me I am wrong.  I am told that China understand a mogul with multiple wives and families, that China gets trump.  I am told that his behavior overall and threats of military might have scared North Korea and so now they'll stop the nuclear testing and get with some world peace.  I am also told that Trump really isn't a womanizer and Melania is sure of his love for him; this one I debate.

Just airing some thoughts amidst my research on the old nobility of the developing country of Hungary....

GOING FOR THE BERN WHEN THERE IS NO BERNIE SANDERS!

It's almost old news that the AMERICAN DEMOCRAT-SOCIALIST CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT, Bernie Sanders,  has failed to gain the ticket to Presidency.

However, considering the CLINTON's have been campaigning for years and have what we call THE PARTY MACHINE in their favor,  SANDERS PROVED TO BE AMAZINGLY COMPETITIVE.  he touched the hearts and souls of so very many who know that we need to do more as a country for our citizens who make average incomes or less and who are struggling.

Since he ran on the Democratic ticket, Sanders was obliged to say that all votes for him should now go to Hilary Clinton.  I forgave him.  The bad news was that he is not a "write in" candidate.

I like thousands of others thought they could, but it turns out that if you want to be a "write in" candidate you have to file to be on the ticket - of each state - individually.  It was too late.

Sanders went back to be the Senator he was before his run.
But believe me when I say that he is not forgot, nor is his message forgotten.

On the bike path nearby where I live, his GRASS ROOTS SUPPORTERS took chalk and wrote their own messages encouraging people to vote for him.

He was the only candidate that had volunteers who had not been down to campaign headquarters making home made signs and holding them up for hours at high traffic intersections.

I had not seen this kind of GRASS ROOTS SUPPORT for any candidate in my lifetime.

Will the amazing show of support that he had when it came to the Democratic Primaries actually change the platform of that party and lead to some or any of the changes that the people who spoke up about what they wanted from him with their vote?

I've been vocal about my candidate and why I wanted him to be our President.

First, I must say that from the very beginning I suspected that DONALD TRUMP really wanted the Democrats to win the next Presidency.  Every time I read another article about him I wince.  The man has a real talent for putting his foot in his mouth and having to backtrack to say what it was he really meant.  I've met many people who say they will vote for him because they see his personal business success as an indicator that he can pull our country out of the economic crisis it has been in for so very many citizens for years now.

However, TRUMP doesn't always succeed in business.
And our national debt went to nothing when we had PRESIDENT WILLIAM J. CLINTON in the White House.

There's just one problem for me with THE CLINTONS, and it's a big one.

I can understand that some people get married and take their vows seriously yet that marriage can be difficult and that sometimes one or both of them go ahead and fall in love with someone else, or have an affair.  Several of my friends through the years have done just that.

There's that, and then there is the womanizing that "Bill" has apparently been committed to for years.  It wasn't just Monica Lewinsky, who has had a very difficult life over the public exposure of her romance with Bill (for surely she was in love with him), that he was womanizing with.

Some people say to me, "Well, JKF did that too. and Jackie put up with it."

Yes, but Jackie wasn't an IVY LEAGUE EDUCATED CAREER WOMAN who MADE AN OUTSTANDING AMOUNT OF MONEY (more than Bill for some time) AS A LAWYER.

I could even understand why Jackie or Hillary would "stand by their man" while he was still in office.  However, I DO NOT ADMIRE HILLARY CLINTON FOR NOT DIVORCING BILL,.

NO these TWO are members of a POWER COUPLE for whom, grand mothering aside, ARE NO EXAMPLE TO US of PERSONAL MORALITY.  And that to me should be considered.

SO I LIKE THAT BERNIE SANDERS got married and stayed married to the same woman all these years, with no scandals.  I know that if he got into the White House we'd never have to worry about him receiving sexual services from an intern while on the phone with VLADIMIR PUTIN or any other world leader.  And it would be sexist of me to think that HILLARY would never, just because she is a woman.

I agree that we must now focus on the candidates who are running for lesser offices than the Presidency - our Senators and Congresspeople and local representatives in City Councils.

AMERICAN MEDICINE - SOCIALISM - BERNIE SANDERS - and THE BLACK WIDOW SPIDER BITE

The election of the next President of the United States is far away but the election process has started as various candidates dare to run, some more famous than others.  I have a friend who wants Bernie Sanders, the openly socialist candidate to win.  In particular he thinks of Obamacare, the slang term for mandatory medical insurance coverage that has begun under the administration of President Barack Obama, as socialist.

I don't agree.  Social medicine is run by the government.  Here we have to pick a plan and pay for it, though if you are truly poor you might be covered by a plan that uses taxes.

But right now I'm so turned off of politics that I can't imagine voting for anyone who is running!

I did notice some grassroots campaigning for Sanders taking place, and that cheered me.  Some common citizens with hand drawn posters were standing at a busy intersections and waving these posters.  "Honk if you want Bernie!"  I prefer that kind of local activism to all the expensive media campaigning.

Do I really want to live in a Socialist  country?  No.  No more than I would want to live in a Communist Country.  I think my friend doesn't know how much is dictated to you when you are a participant in government health care and other so called social welfare programs.  Yes, we can take care of the poor better than we do, but that is a spiritual choice.

This friend is from Texas where he says there are black widow spider's everywhere.  I found some in my apartment crawling but not their nest.  I managed to kill one crawling on the wall with some ecologically correct insect spray.  I believe they came inside because of the drought.

Well, my friend managed to never get bit in Texas but about five days ago he got bit here in Southern California by something on his back - in his car!  (I've since learned that mechanics here frequently find Black Widow spiders in vehicles and get bit! ) He can't see it but he can feel the pain and the swelling, which is about five inches in diameter.  And he will not go to a doctor or urgent care.

Why not?

He is covered under Obamacare.

Certainly that is the place to go where the bite can be examined to be sure it is not infected and perhaps besides some pain killers or antibiotics he can get something to reduce the swelling.

This is not the first time this year that he has had a medical issue that might have benefited from seeing a doctor.  He also decided to let his body fight an infection in a tooth, and when I saw him he had lost 10 pounds and looked like the blood had drained from his face.

What is the fear of using his insurance.

One of my friends thinks that he is afraid because he knows that there is actually something else very wrong with his health and that seeing a doctor over something minor might lead to tests that might reveal a more serious diagnosis.

Hmmm
